Sony Alpha 7R VI Launches in India with Powerful Features

Sony launched the Alpha 7R VI in India on Wednesday. The company had introduced the camera globally in May. This full-frame mirrorless model targets professional photographers and filmmakers. It delivers exceptional image quality and advanced performance.

The Alpha 7R VI features a 66.8-megapixel full-frame back-illuminated Exmor RS CMOS sensor. Moreover, it uses Sony’s latest BIONZ XR2 image processor. This combination produces outstanding results. Sony claims the camera offers up to 16 stops of dynamic range. It also reduces noise and processes images quickly.

Additionally, the camera supports 8K video recording at 30fps. It enables blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30fps. Furthermore, it performs up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second. Sony equips the device with five-axis in-body image stabilisation. This system provides up to 8.5 stops of compensation at the centre.

Price and Availability in India

Sony has priced the Alpha 7R VI at Rs. 4,70,990 in India. Customers can purchase it starting July 3. The camera becomes available on Amazon, Sony’s ShopatSC website, and Sony Center stores across the country.

As part of the launch offer, buyers receive a complimentary NP-SA100 battery worth Rs. 10,490. Other accessories carry separate prices. For example, the NP-SA100 battery costs Rs. 10,490. The BC-SAD1 charger and DC-C2 coupler each cost Rs. 15,990. The VG-C6 vertical grip is priced at Rs. 40,490. Finally, the XLR-A4 XLR adaptor comes at Rs. 69,490.

Key Specifications and Features

The camera includes Real-time Recognition AF+ with a dedicated AI unit. This system tracks human subjects using skeletal pose estimation. Moreover, it offers 5.6 times faster readout speeds than the previous model.

For videographers, the Alpha 7R VI supports 8K 30fps and full-frame 4K 120fps recording. A new Dual Gain feature reduces noise while preserving shadow details. Additionally, it supports 32-bit float audio recording with the XLR-A4 adaptor.

The device features a 9.44-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. This EVF provides DCI-P3 colour gamut and HDR support. Users also get a four-axis multi-angle LCD touchscreen. Furthermore, dual USB Type-C ports allow simultaneous charging and data transfer.

The camera runs on a new 2,670mAh NP-SA100 battery. Sony claims it can capture up to 710 still images on the LCD or 600 via the viewfinder.
