Vodafone Idea Launches Baggage Protection Service for Postpaid Users
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced a new baggage protection service for its postpaid international roaming plans. The service started through a partnership with US-based Blue Ribbon Bags. It aims to provide users with an additional layer of safety for their luggage while traveling abroad.
How it Works
Vi postpaid users must purchase an international roaming pack to avail of the service. They also need to activate Baggage Protection at an additional cost of Rs. 99. Users must also register with Blue Ribbon Bags before their flight. If baggage is lost or delayed, users must report it to the airline. They must also file a report with Blue Ribbon Bags within 24 hours of landing.
Compensation and Benefits
Blue Ribbon Bags will track and expedite the return of the luggage using its global network. If the baggage is not returned within four days (96 hours), the company will provide a compensation of Rs. 19,800 per bag to the user. The compensation can be availed for up to two bags per user.
Industry Context
A 2024 report by SITA reveals that over 36 million bags were mishandled globally last year. Vi highlighted this finding, raising concerns about baggage security for travelers. The new service aims to address this concern. It will provide Vi users with an additional safety net. This will improve their travel experience.
Availability
The baggage protection service is available with all postpaid international roaming plans with an add-on. Vi users can activate the service in two steps. First, purchase an international roaming pack. Then, register with Blue Ribbon Bags before their flight.
