Union Budget Highlights: Emerging Tech Takes Center Stage

National Framework for Global Capability Centres
A national framework will be formulated to promote Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in emerging Tier-2 cities. This framework will provide guidance to states on measures to enhance talent availability, infrastructure, and industry collaboration.
Centre of Excellence in AI for Education
A new Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for education will be established. The total outlay for this project is Rs 500 crore. This initiative aims to leverage AI in education and improve learning outcomes.
‘Fund of Funds’ for Startups
A new ‘Fund of Funds’ will be established. It will have an expanded scope. A fresh contribution of Rs 10,000 crore will support startups. This move is expected to catalyze the growth of next-generation startups.
Deep Tech ‘Fund of Funds’
The government will also explore a deep tech ‘Fund of Funds’ to support startups working on cutting-edge technologies.
Industry Reaction
Gopal Jain, Managing Partner of Gaja Capital, welcomed the initiatives. He said, “The introduction of a new Fund of Funds for AIFs is a promising step. A Center of Excellence for AI in Education is also a promising step toward fostering a knowledge-driven economy.”
