Samsung Unveils Galaxy SmartTag 3 With iPhone Support and Long Battery Life
Samsung has announced the Galaxy SmartTag 3. The tracker has a compact body and works with iPhone models as well as Galaxy phones. It is meant to help users follow keys, wallets, luggage, and other items through the Galaxy Find Network and the SmartThings Find app. Samsung says Power Saving Mode can stretch battery life to as much as 790 days.
Sales start in South Korea on 7 October. A US launch will follow. Samsung plans more markets in 2027. Colours are Black and White. The price has not been announced.
The tag has a rounded shape and an aluminium-finished button. It can clip to keys, small bags, luggage, or a pet collar. Samsung says the new model is 35 percent smaller by volume and 33 percent lighter than the Galaxy SmartTag 2.
iOS support is new. Users can locate the tag from an iPhone through Samsung’s app. It is the first Galaxy SmartTag with cross-system support for Galaxy and iOS devices.
The body is IP67 rated for dust and water. Tracking uses Bluetooth 6.0 with channel sounding and Ultra-Wideband. The Galaxy Find Network can locate the tag even when it is out of phone range, through SmartThings Find. Samsung says that network includes more than 900 million Samsung devices.
Place Notification lets users set an area and get an alert when a tagged item enters or leaves it. Location History shows earlier places linked to the tag. Movement Detection Alert warns when the tag moves. NFC Lost Mode can show a registered contact or a short message when a compatible phone scans a lost tag. The button can also control SmartThings devices. Left Behind Alert warns when the phone loses its link to a tagged item.
Typical battery life is rated at up to 550 days. With Power Saving Mode on, Samsung claims as much as 790 days. India pricing and a local sale date have not been announced.
