iQOO 16 Launches in China with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and 8,400mAh Battery

iQOO has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in China. The device arrives alongside the recently announced iQOO Pad Ultra and brings high-end hardware aimed at mobile gamers and power users.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which is built on a 2nm manufacturing process. Additionally, iQOO has paired the chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

The iQOO 16 features a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. Furthermore, the screen supports a high touch sampling rate designed to improve responsiveness during gaming. The handset also offers up to 2,800 nits of peak brightness and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

To maintain performance under heavy workloads, iQOO has equipped the phone with an upgraded vapour chamber cooling system. The large heat dissipation setup is designed to manage temperatures during extended gaming sessions and demanding tasks.

For photography, the device includes a triple-camera system on the rear. The setup consists of a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with digital zoom support, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Meanwhile, a 32-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

The smartphone also supports video recording at up to 8K resolution. As a result, content creators have access to advanced imaging capabilities.

One of the standout features is its large 8,400mAh battery. In addition, the device supports 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, allowing users to recharge quickly.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The handset also features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner for security.

The iQOO 16 starts at CNY 5,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Higher-end models with additional memory and storage are also available. Buyers can choose from Chasing the Light, Legend, and Racing Track color options.

The smartphone is scheduled to go on sale in China during October through Vivo’s online platform. With flagship hardware, advanced cooling technology, premium cameras, and a massive battery, the iQOO 16 aims to compete in the high-performance smartphone segment.
