Tecno launched the Pova 8 Pro 5G in India on Tuesday. The phone joins the company’s Pova 8 lineup. It arrives months after the standard Pova 8 model. The new handset will go on sale in three colour options. It uses an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity chipset. A 6,500mAh battery supports 45W wired fast charging. The rear camera setup is led by a 50-megapixel sensor.
Pricing starts at Rs. 49,999 for the base 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The top 12GB + 512GB configuration costs Rs. 54,999. The company is offering Rs. 3,000 instant cashback on selected credit cards, debit cards and UPI payments.
Sales begin on August 21 through Flipkart. Buyers can choose Arc White, Graphite Black or Tundra Green.
The dual-SIM phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Tecno promises two operating system upgrades and three years of security updates. The device uses a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with 1,208 x 2,644 pixels. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 429 ppi density, up to 4,500 nits peak brightness and 1.07 billion colours. The screen-to-body ratio stands at 93.18 percent. The company also claims an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance.
An octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset powers the phone. The 4nm processor reaches a peak clock speed of 2.6GHz. It pairs with a Tecno P1 graphics chip and an ARM Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. A vapour chamber covering 5,000 square millimetres helps manage heat.
The back features an Alive Matrix Display with 177 mini LEDs. Tecno says this creates a “Breathing Light” effect in more than 49 scenarios. The dual rear cameras include a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. A 13-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.
The 6,500mAh battery supports 45W wired charging. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, NFC and multiple satellite systems such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo. Security features include an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock. Onboard sensors cover ambient light, proximity, e-compass and gyroscope. The phone measures 162.48 x 77.27 x 7.39 mm and weighs about 189 grams.
