Huawei Watch GT Runner 2: A Smart Choice for Runners

Huawei launched the Watch GT Runner 2 globally on Thursday. The company unveiled it in Madrid alongside the Mate 80 Pro and MatePad Mini.

This smartwatch marks Huawei’s return to professional running watches after five years. It targets both elite and amateur runners with advanced features.

The Watch GT Runner 2 features a titanium alloy build. It includes a bezel, crown, buttons, and case made from this durable material. Moreover, the watch weighs just 34.5 grams without the strap. It measures 43.5 × 43.5 × 10.7 mm.

A 1.32-inch AMOLED display powers the device. It offers 466 × 466 pixel resolution and reaches up to 3,000 nits brightness. Huawei protects the screen with second-generation Kunlun Glass.

The new 3D floating antenna system stands out as a key upgrade. Huawei claims it boosts GPS accuracy by 20 percent over previous models. The watch supports dual-band L1+L5 GPS. It also works with GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC.

This setup ensures precise tracking. The device maintains route and distance calculations during brief signal losses in tunnels or crowded cities.

Huawei developed Intelligent Marathon Mode with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team. Runners receive structured training plans. They get personalized race preparation and real-time data. The watch tracks pace, predicts finish times, and shows gaps to targets.

Additional tools include a digital pacer and fuelling reminders. It measures lactate threshold, running power, and Running Ability Index. After runs, the Huawei Health app provides recovery insights and form analysis.

The watch supports over 100 sports modes. These cover trail running, swimming, cycling, golf with 17,000+ courses in select markets, and freediving up to 40 meters. It carries 5 ATM and IP69 water and dust resistance certifications.

Health features include ECG monitoring, heart rate variability, blood oxygen tracking, sleep analysis with breathing awareness, and stress measurement.

Battery life impresses users. Huawei claims up to 14 days on light use. Typical usage delivers up to 7 days. Outdoor workout mode with precise GPS lasts up to 32 hours.

The watch supports Bluetooth calling, NFC payments, standalone music playback, and QR code scanning. It charges wirelessly.

In the UK, the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 costs GBP 350 (about Rs. 42,900). It comes in Dawn Orange, Dusk Blue, and Midnight Black. Customers can buy it now on the Huawei UK website.

Availability in other markets remains unclear. Huawei may announce more details soon.

Overall, the Watch GT Runner 2 combines premium design with serious running tools. It aims to compete strongly in the professional sports watch segment.
