Sony appears to be gearing up for its next Xperia lineup. The company is working on two new models. These include the flagship Xperia 1 VIII and the mid-range Xperia 10 VIII.
Both phones have now appeared on a certification website. This appearance strongly hints at an imminent global launch. Moreover, they surfaced in the IMEI database recently. The models carry the codes XQ-GE44 and XQ-GH44.
The XQ-GE prefix points to the Xperia 1 VIII. Meanwhile, the XQ-GH prefix likely refers to the Xperia 10 VIII. Additionally, different PM codes show plans for multiple markets. Sony will launch these devices in Japan, Europe, and Asia.
Reports suggest the Xperia 1 VIII will use the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. This flagship processor promises top performance. In contrast, the Xperia 10 VIII may feature a mid-range chipset.
Sony has not confirmed either phone yet. However, the Xperia 1 VIII will succeed the Xperia 1 VII. That model launched globally in May 2025. It came with a 6.5-inch full-HD+ display. The screen supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it packs 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The Xperia 1 VII also boasts a triple rear camera setup. Its main sensor delivers 48 megapixels. Additionally, a 5,000mAh battery supports 30W charging.
On the other hand, the Xperia 10 VIII will follow the Xperia 10 VII. That device debuted in September 2025. It features a 6.1-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh. Moreover, it uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. The phone includes 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Sony equipped the Xperia 10 VII with a dual rear camera. The primary sensor offers 50 megapixels. Finally, a 5,000mAh battery provides 20W fast charging.
Sony usually launches these series in different months. Still, this time the company may change its approach. Reports indicate a possible simultaneous launch for both models. As a result, fans can expect exciting news soon.
