Poco M8 5G India Launch Set for January 8; Key Specs Confirmed
Poco has officially confirmed that the Poco M8 5G will launch in India on January 8, 2026.
The event is scheduled for 12:00 pm IST. The smartphone is expected to go on sale soon after via Flipkart.
Ahead of its debut, Poco has revealed several key specs. These include display details, chipset performance, and software support. This gives buyers a clear picture of what to expect from the upcoming mid-range 5G handset.
6.77-inch 3D Curved Display With 120 Hz Refresh Rate
Poco has confirmed that the M8 5G will sport a 6.77-inch 3D curved display with a resolution of 2392 × 1080 pixels.
The panel supports a 120 Hz refresh rate. It can reach up to 3,200 nits peak brightness. This makes it one of the brightest in its segment.
According to the company, the screen covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports Wet Touch 2.0 technology, which improves touch responsiveness in humid or wet conditions — a useful feature for India’s varied climate.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Up to 16 GB RAM
Under the hood, the Poco M8 5G will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.
Poco says the device has achieved an AnTuTu score of over 8,25,000. This score is claimed to be 83 percent higher than its predecessor, the Poco M7 5G.
The handset is expected to offer up to 16 GB of RAM. This includes 8 GB of virtual RAM. These specifications ensure smoother multitasking and enhanced performance for gaming and everyday use.
HyperOS 2 With Four Years of Android Updates
Poco has confirmed that the M8 5G will boot HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 out of the box.
The company has committed to strong software support for a mid-range device. It has promised four years of Android updates. Additionally, there will be six years of security patches.
An update to Android 16-based HyperOS 3 is also expected soon after launch.
Design, Build and Camera Teasers
Earlier teasers have revealed more details about the physical design of the Poco M8 5G.
The phone will measure 7.35 mm in thickness and weigh 178 g, making it relatively slim and light.
It will also carry an IP66 rating for ingress protection along with SGS MIL-STD-810 certification, suggesting enhanced durability.
For photography, the M8 5G is teased to feature a 50-megapixel AI-powered primary camera. It is housed within a centrally aligned squircle-shaped camera module. It is accompanied by a secondary sensor and LED flash. Details on the additional camera sensor are yet to be confirmed.
Launch and Availability
Poco has announced that the M8 5G will launch in India on January 8 at 12:00 pm IST.
The handset will be available for purchase via Flipkart. Pricing and full specifications will be revealed closer to the launch date.
