Micromax and Phison Launch Joint Venture “MiPhi” to Revolutionize Indian AI Landscape
Micromax Informatics today announced a strategic partnership with leading storage manufacturer Phison to establish a new joint venture, “MiPhi.” This collaboration aims to develop embedded storage solutions for Indian businesses. It will deliver these solutions across diverse sectors, including mobile, automotive, IoT, data centers, and consumer electronics.
MiPhi will leverage manufacturing facilities strategically located in four regions across India. These regions are Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), Hyderabad, Noida (Uttar Pradesh), and Telangana. They will produce high-performance storage solutions tailored for AI applications. The joint venture will focus on developing custom-designed NAND storage solutions. These solutions will boast industry-leading energy efficiency and the lowest per-token cost for AI operations. This significantly enhances the cost-effectiveness of AI deployments.
“We have a deep understanding of the Indian market. By combining this with Phison’s unparalleled technological expertise, we are confident in delivering groundbreaking solutions. These solutions will revolutionize the Indian AI landscape,” said Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics. “With this venture, we aim to achieve a remarkable 10x reduction in GPU costs. We offer the world’s lowest per-token cost. This democratizes AI access and fosters innovation across various sectors.”
Phison is a global leader in NAND flash controller technology with over 2,000 patents. It will be a major investor in MiPhi, contributing 80% of the operating expenses. Micromax will contribute its extensive expertise in Indian market dynamics, product development, and sales & distribution channels.
This strategic partnership is a significant step for Micromax. The company seeks to diversify its business portfolio. It also aims to capitalize on the burgeoning AI market in India. Earlier this year, reports suggested Micromax was exploring entry into the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing sector. However, official announcements regarding this venture are yet to be made.
