Google Teases New Pixel Glow Feature for Future Phones
Google is developing an exciting new notification feature called Pixel Glow. This feature will appear in upcoming Pixel smartphones. Speculation about Pixel Glow grew last month. Then, Google teased it during the Google I/O 2026 event.
Moreover, the feature works closely with Gemini AI. It will likely debut with the Pixel 11 series later this year. The new phones will use Google’s Tensor G6 chipset.
During the keynote, Google demonstrated Gemini Omni. In the video, a person held a phone that looked like the Pixel 11. At the end, the area around the camera bar glowed with neon light. This glowing strip seems to act as a smart notification LED.
Furthermore, the moment sparked huge interest online. Many viewers believe this shows the real Pixel Glow feature. However, some suggest it might simply display AI-generated visuals. The phone in the demo also wore a protective case, so experts remain unsure about the exact model.
Additionally, developers first discovered the feature in Android 17 Beta 4 code. The codename for this project is “orbit”. When users place the phone face down, colored lights notify them about updates and alerts. The light bar design draws inspiration from the Nothing Phone.
Google plans to launch the Pixel 11 series at the next Made by Google event, possibly in August. With the powerful Tensor G6 chip, the new series promises better performance.
