Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Chipsets in India

Qualcomm introduced two new Snapdragon chipsets at the Snapdragon for India event in New Delhi on Thursday. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platforms target mid-range and budget smartphones. Moreover, both chipsets bring a new Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI technology that delivers smoother navigation and faster app responses.

Availability Details

Qualcomm announced that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will power upcoming phones from brands like Honor and Redmi. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 will first appear in devices from Oppo, Realme, and Redmi. However, the company has not yet revealed exact launch timelines for these smartphones.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Key Features

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 brings major upgrades to the series. It offers 20 percent faster app launches and reduces screen stutter by 18 percent thanks to the new Smooth Motion UI. Additionally, the chipset delivers up to 21 percent better GPU performance than its predecessor.

Engineers built this SoC on a 4nm process node. It features an octa-core Kryo CPU with performance cores running up to 2.6GHz and efficiency cores up to 2.0GHz. Furthermore, the platform supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

For gamers, Qualcomm added advanced tools such as Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, and Frames Per Second 3.0. As a result, players enjoy smoother gameplay with steady frame rates and better battery life. The chipset also supports FHD+ displays at up to 144Hz refresh rate.

On the camera side, it handles up to 200-megapixel sensors and records 4K HDR videos at 30fps. Moreover, AI-powered Night Vision improves low-light photography. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and 5G speeds up to 2.8Gbps.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Key Features

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 brings strong improvements for entry-level devices. It launches apps 43 percent faster and cuts screen stutter by 25 percent with the Smooth Motion UI. In addition, it offers up to 77 percent better GPU performance over the previous generation.

This chipset also uses a 4nm manufacturing process. It includes an octa-core Kryo CPU with two performance cores up to 2.4GHz and six efficiency cores up to 2.0GHz.

Gamers will notice better performance as the platform now supports up to 90fps gameplay for the first time in the Snapdragon 4 series. It further supports FHD+ displays at 144Hz with dedicated gaming optimizations.

For photography, the chipset supports up to 108-megapixel cameras. It also enables dual 16-megapixel setups with zero shutter lag, intelligent face detection, and electronic image stabilization. Connectivity features include 5G with Dual SIM Dual Active support, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1.

These new chipsets will help smartphone makers deliver faster, smoother, and more intelligent devices across different price segments in India.
