Xiaomi’s WinPlay: Play Windows Games on Android Tablets

Xiaomi Teases ‘WinPlay’ System to Bring Windows Games to Android Tablets

Xiaomi has teased a new system called “WinPlay.” This system could soon allow users to play Windows PC games on its Android tablets. The company revealed this in a Weibo post, showcasing the system’s capabilities.

WinPlay is currently under development and is being tested on the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. This flagship tablet has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It offers up to 16GB of RAM. It also provides up to 1TB of storage. These features create a solid foundation for demanding games.

Xiaomi claims that WinPlay results in only a minor 2.9% loss in GPU performance compared to native Windows gaming. The system leverages Xiaomi’s HyperCore technology, a self-developed kernel platform that optimizes performance, graphics, network, and security across the device.

HyperCore, introduced with the Android 15-based HyperOS 2, includes a proprietary scheduler. This scheduler reduces CPU idle time by 19%. It also significantly accelerates app launch speeds. Developed by over 3,000 engineers, HyperCore optimizes performance across more than 25,000 scenarios.

WinPlay is expected to support Steam and its vast game library. However, compatibility with other platforms like the Epic Games Store and GOG remains to be seen.

Xiaomi is currently recruiting volunteer testers in China to provide feedback on the WinPlay system. This exciting development could open up a new world of gaming possibilities for Xiaomi tablet users. It brings the power of PC gaming to the mobile platform.
