Google Messages Gets a Visual Overhaul for Richer Media Sharing
Google Messages, the popular messaging app, has recently introduced a redesigned user interface (UI). This new design is for sending photos and videos via Rich Communication Services (RCS). This update aims to streamline the media-sharing process and offer users more control over the quality of their shared content.
A New Look for Media Sharing:
The revamped UI is currently rolling out to beta users. It merges the camera viewfinder and the gallery picker into a single, unified view. This design change prioritizes the camera, making it easier for users to capture and share moments quickly. The gallery images now appear at the bottom of the screen. This provides a convenient way to select existing photos and videos.
Enhanced Media Quality Control:
Along with the visual overhaul, Google Messages has introduced a new feature. It allows users to select the media quality before sending it via RCS. This gives users more flexibility in balancing image quality with data usage. Users can choose between two options: HD and HD+.
- HD: This setting optimizes media for chat environments, reducing file size and ensuring faster transfer times.
- HD+: This setting sends media at its original resolution, preserving the highest level of image quality. However, this option may consume more data and take longer to send, especially for larger files.
The selected media quality setting will be applied to all future chats until it’s changed. Images sent in HD+ resolution will be marked with an “HD+” tag for easy identification.
This latest update from Google Messages shows the company’s dedication to improving the messaging experience. It provides users with more control over their communication.
