The Nintendo Switch’s successor will reportedly support backwards compatibility. A reliable games industry insider claimed earlier this week that the Switch 2 would play games released on the previous generation console. Nintendo confirmed earlier this year that the Switch 2 would be announced next year. The company has not yet provided any official details about the upcoming console or possible backwards compatibility support.

The information comes from Nate the Hate (as spotted by VGC), who has a track record of leaking accurate information about games and consoles. In a reply to a Reddit post about the Nintendo Switch 2, the tipster claimed: “It has backwards compatibility support.”

The tipster’s claim falls in line with earlier reports that said the Switch would arrive with backwards compatibility. A third-party Switch peripherals manufacturer had said back in April that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be backwards compatible with both physical and digital games.

DJI Neo was launched on Thursday as the company’s lightest and most compact drone to date. It boasts capabilities such as subject tracking powered by artificial intelligence (AI), QuickShots, 4K ultra-stabilised video recording and remote-less operation via smartphone pairing. The Asus NUC 14 Pro AI is a Copilot+ PC and users will have access to Microsoft’s latest Windows AI features through an update later this year.

India’s CoinSwitch crypto exchange is expanding its services portfolio to now focus on high networth individuals (HNIs) and institutional investors. In an announcement shared on Thursday, September 5 – the Mumbai-headquartered exchange said with this service, it aims to provide HNIs with personalised investment advisory and detailed risk management solutions among other inputs. In India, crypto-related activities like investing, trading, and holding are allowed and they fall under the government’s tax regime.

Bitcoin on Wednesday, September 4 continued to stay substantially under the mark of $60,000 (roughly Rs. 50.3 lakh) after seeing a price decline earlier this week. A microsite for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on the Flipkart mobile app revealed that the foldable will go on sale starting September 4 at 12PM in India. The page, which is not accessible via a desktop browser, shows some related offers as well, with the phone’s effective price set at Rs. 1,49,499 or Rs. 12,459 per month (on EMI) after bank offers and discounts. Amazon’s revamped Alexa due for release in October ahead of the U.S. holiday season will be powered primarily by Anthropic’s Claude artificial intelligence models, rather than its own AI, five people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

NASA has announced that astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will be launching on the SpaceX Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) no earlier than Tuesday, September 24, 2024. This update comes after changes to the mission’s crew composition. Originally, NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson were also part of the Crew-9 team, but they are now eligible for reassignment to future missions.

The upcoming SpaceX Crew-9 mission will now be flown with a two-person crew aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. Nick Hague will serve as the mission commander, while Aleksandr Gorbunov will take on the role of mission specialist. This adjustment follows NASA’s decision to return the agency’s Boeing Crew Flight Test uncrewed, resulting in two vacant seats on Crew-9. NASA’s decision was made by Joe Acaba, Chief Astronaut at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, who needed to ensure a balanced crew with essential experience and integration for the mission.

Joe Acaba explained that the decision to reduce the crew size was challenging. The crew had trained as a team of four, and adjusting to a smaller crew presented its own set of difficulties. Despite this, Acaba expressed confidence in the crew’s capabilities, noting that Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson would continue to support their colleagues in preparation for the mission. Microsoft Phone Link – the company’s app that enables users to pair their Android smartphones to a Windows PC – has expanded its instant hotspot feature to beyond Samsung smartphones, according to a report. Users with Android smartphones from brands such as OnePlus and Oppo may be able to use their handsets as portable hotspots to quickly connect their PCs to their internet without needing to manually configure the details. It builds upon Copilot chatbot-supported features recently brought to Android smartphones via a Phone Link app.
