Samsung Galaxy Buds T1 Earn FCC Certification Ahead of Expected 2027 Launch

Samsung’s fitness-focused Galaxy Buds have appeared in previous leaks. They have now visited the FCC. Currently referred to as the Galaxy Buds T1, these earbuds feature an ear hook design. The design aims at runners and fitness enthusiasts. Previous reports indicated that Samsung referred to the earbuds internally as the Buds Canal 5. However, the new FCC certification provides more details about Samsung’s mystery earbuds, including design, Bluetooth capabilities and battery information.

FCC Certification Reveals Key Details

According to Android Authority, Samsung’s mystery TWS earbuds received their FCC certification in the US. The listing reveals basic information such as the SM-R545 model number. Nevertheless, it also offers a clearer idea about their design, Bluetooth capability and battery life. The filings for the certification oddly cover both earbuds individually. Collectively, the buds received their individual certification on November 4. The charging case, according to the source, carries its own model number: EP-QR545.

During testing, the TWS achieved a Bluetooth range exceeding 14.5 metres. Researchers conducted these tests in a laboratory. Android Authority also confirmed a 3.85V battery and 5V charging input via the cradle. Furthermore, the filing shows an image of the ear hook type design. This design reminds users of the Powerbeats Pro 2. Schematics of a flat case also appear, showing a button and a lanyard hole for attaching a wrist strap. Given the slew of certifications, the source claims that the earbuds may launch in 2027.

Earlier Reports Point to Fitness Features

In a previous report, the same earbuds were referred to as the Buds Canal 5 internally. However, it was confirmed back then that they would receive a different name. SamMobile had also shared an image revealing the ear hook design of the earbuds with in-ear tips. Back then, the buds were said to launch with a charging case that would support USB Type-C charging. The same report also hinted at an ingress protection rating. In addition, the fitness-friendly earbuds would pack active noise cancellation (ANC). Therefore, the Galaxy Buds T1 appear positioned as a dedicated option for active users.
