Samsung and Google Team Up to Bring AI-Powered Google Photos Memories to Smart TVs in 2026
Samsung is preparing to redefine how people experience their personal photos at home.
The South Korean tech giant has confirmed a new partnership with Google. This collaboration will bring Google Photos directly to its next generation of AI-powered smart TVs.
The highlight feature is Memories, one of Google Photos’ most popular tools.
It automatically curates photos and short stories based on people, locations, and meaningful moments.
Until now, Memories has been limited to smartphones and tablets.
Starting in early 2026, it will finally appear on the big screen — exclusively on Samsung TVs.
For the first six months after launch, Samsung will be the only smart TV brand in the world to offer this experience.
Turning the Living Room Into a Personal Memory Hub
Samsung states that their aim is to transform the television from a passive screen. They want it to become an emotional and interactive centerpiece of the home.
“Through this partnership, we help users rediscover cherished moments. We bring to light the stories behind their photos. This occurs right in their living room,”
said Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display business.
Once available, users will be able to browse their curated photo memories directly on their television.
The experience will feel natural, immersive, and deeply personal.
Vision AI Makes Memories Come Alive
Samsung is taking the concept further with its Vision AI Companion.
The system will intelligently surface past photos throughout the day whenever they are contextually relevant.
A vacation memory might appear in the evening.
A family moment could surface during a quiet afternoon.
The TV becomes more than a display.
It becomes a storyteller.
The Memories feature is expected to roll out in March 2026.
More AI Features Coming Later in 2026
Samsung also revealed two additional Google Photos features scheduled for release later in 2026.
Create with AI
Users will be able to generate themed photo creations using Google’s Nano Banana technology.
Photos can be restyled using Remix, or transformed into short animated clips using image-to-video AI.
Personalised Results
This feature allows users to instantly create themed slideshows.
Select a topic like “hiking”, and the TV will automatically display all related photos in a smooth visual presentation.
Available on New and Existing AI TVs
All Samsung AI TVs launching in 2026 will include these features out of the box.
Current AI TV models will receive them via over-the-air updates.
Users simply need to:
- Be logged into their Google account
- Keep the Memories feature enabled
A New Era for Smart TV Experiences
This partnership marks a major shift in how smart TVs are positioned.
Samsung is no longer just selling screens.
It is building intelligent, emotional experiences that connect technology with everyday life.
AI, personal data, and cloud services are merging inside the living room. As a result, the future of television is becoming deeply human. It is also becoming highly personal.
