Tron, in collaboration with Tether and TRM Labs, has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against crypto crime. The T3 unit, a specialized financial crime unit established in August 2024, has successfully recovered and frozen $126 million (roughly Rs. 1,081 crore) in illicit funds.
Tron, a leading blockchain platform, partnered with Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin. They also collaborated with TRM Labs, a blockchain intelligence firm. The purpose was to launch T3. The primary goal is preventing the misuse of USDT on the Tron network by criminals.
The announcement was made on January 2nd via Tron’s official X account. It highlighted the unit’s crucial role in combating illicit activities within the crypto ecosystem.
T3 employs advanced blockchain analytics and investigative techniques to identify suspicious transactions. It tracks these transactions and enables law enforcement agencies to apprehend criminals. This helps in recovering stolen funds. This collaborative effort demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing the growing concerns surrounding crypto-related crimes.
